BG Wine Map

Most recently, the country wine-producing areas have been consolidated into two large regions – North Bulgaria (Mysia) and South Bulgaria (Thracian Plain).

Many new vineyards are being planted and the raw product’s quality is expected to improve. There are now smaller producers with own vineyards that produce characteristic high quality wines. Indigenous Bulgarian grape varietals are considered to have the potential to differentiate on the world wine market.

Wine cellars are closing the cycle from vine to ready product vs. the partition wall between vine-growing and wine-making in the past. And, as a small country with very varied terrains, soils and climate, Bulgaria has every reason to produce distinctive quality wines.
